Malcolm Gladwell Portrait (Rough)

This is a rough for a Malcolm Gladwell Portrait.
Concept: Since he’s been criticized for over simplifying complex concepts & theories… I wanted to convey that in this portrait.

I moved my table lamp towards my illustration (so I could see the lines more clearly). It ended up making it harder to see my lines because of the cast shadow from my hand.
Then I thought… hey, this is another life lesson analogy.
It’s about balance..
But it’s a bit pessimistic.
They’re finally done!!

For my media course, we’re experimenting with many techniques and what not. This week’s is gouache washing with the theme: Love.

It’s fairly simple to accomplish:
1) Draw out your illustration.
2) Paint the negatives with white gouache
3) Coat everything in india ink
4) Wash it off with running water
I couldn’t resist designing another infographic. It’s just a basic map of where (some) organs are located on the body - relative to eachother:

And some drawings

I’m at my parent’s place, surrounded by tacky patterns and Christmas ornaments.

And of course, my favorite bottle of French wine that I brought over from Paris last summer, it’s still here!!

Back to exploring Toronto again.. there are so many things I haven’t noticed during the summer roaming: new places to explore in familiar areas.

I finished another track. Even though it may seem like they’re all being sporadically produced, it’s only the 3rd final track that I would call a final. The rest were quite experimental, but it all lead to these completed tracks… so as an anology… experimental tracks are sketches? A process to final pieces?

This portable keyboard is soooo useful
Making music at the cafe or library? Fun.
So I started logging onto myspace again to promote my music and the responses have been good so far ~

Drawing marathon needs to start soon…
This year’s Canzine was super fun! I’ll surely be returning next year

My sister’s set up

Marta & Sam’s table: filled with awesome magnets, stickers, zines and prints

Toni Darling and Lido’s table

Mimi’s collaboration Zine

Mark squeezing in his 1 zine with Anthony
And lastly: my friend made me laugh so hard with this pin she made:

First Canzine experience:
- I definitely know what people are more attracted to now… tiny books: they were all sold out!
- Lineup early for good tables
- Convince others to join in next year
- Resist on spending everything on more zines.. I almost failed.
Hope to see familiar faces next year
