Album Cover Design
Since I couldn’t really sleep last night, I decided to finish up the album cover design of my first CD.

Since I couldn’t really sleep last night, I decided to finish up the album cover design of my first CD.

It’s nearing the 2nd semester of 2nd year and I’m thinking… wow, I really need to push for experimenting around to reach a style by fourth year.

Sunday, sunday, sunday. I hosted the first “art in odd places” event.. (there shall be more in the spring!). We explored the empty UC building… it was interesting, but not as creepy as I thought it would be.
We found this drawing on the door that resembled my friend’s hair!! WEIRD.

I posted this incomplete track a few weeks ago.. I kind of started working on it again (out of no where!) and actually managed to finalize it during the past few days
!!
I trekked over to the west end of Toronto yesterday (where Dundas meets College) and found an abandoned warehouse:

I decided to make an infographic about the process of drawing & making music, and how they can overlap.. It’s weird because when I draw, I tend to look at a list of principles that I thought were completely different from when I make music.. but looking at it carefully: they have more in common than you’d think!

This is just a general idea.. of course there are different styles that would use different principles.
On the side note:
Interestingly.. I’ve never really seen beats as holding music together until after I started incorporating it into my music. So I guess the opposite applies, to create airy sounding music: remove beats or use different samples that allow the music to float!

I finished another track. Even though it may seem like they’re all being sporadically produced, it’s only the 3rd final track that I would call a final. The rest were quite experimental, but it all lead to these completed tracks… so as an anology… experimental tracks are sketches? A process to final pieces?

This portable keyboard is soooo useful
Making music at the cafe or library? Fun.
So I started logging onto myspace again to promote my music and the responses have been good so far ~

Drawing marathon needs to start soon…

Yoko Ono - The Sun is Down! (Myra Phan Remix) Download
Maybe I’m not in the loop but I jumped into remixing Yoko Ono’s track without realizing it was filled with simply spoken words. It was a challenge.. I thought the original was a bit too disco-y and cheesy for my tastes, so I tried to bring it to more of an experimental/rock approach to it.. I’m not really happy with the end result though, oh well!

Lastly…

It’s almost winter break… which means: looking back at the semester, refining and continuing the journey to seeking new inspirations.

2 days
My “full length” track is finally complete.
It’s one of the few that I’m pretty satisfied with
and a fusion of… everything I wanted?
Off topic:
I was asking my buddy for some advice about style… and it lead to browsing through fashion sites after fashion sites in the morning:

Some pretty useful links:

This sign nearly blinded me while walking home:

Current music project: I’m working on a full length song using GOA, 2-step and oldschool break beats fused in with classical strings and dreamy ambient breaks. It’s 20% complete
