This is a rough for a Malcolm Gladwell Portrait.
Concept: Since he’s been criticized for over simplifying complex concepts & theories… I wanted to convey that in this portrait.

I played with some India ink & dry brushing yesterday.

Migrated at OCAD for 7 hours, and it’s finally don.

Of drawing Kid Cudi and La Roux:

… for the drawing & painting for illustrators class

I moved my table lamp towards my illustration (so I could see the lines more clearly). It ended up making it harder to see my lines because of the cast shadow from my hand.

Then I thought… hey, this is another life lesson analogy.

It’s about balance..

But it’s a bit pessimistic.

So.. I have the final version for the Angela Davis poster commission (from UTSU)

I ended up replacing the photograph with a graphic styled drawing that I did on Photoshop.. I wanted to use a more classic/realism drawing but figured a bold design would be more suitable.

We’re narrating the Minotaur for illustration 2…
