Autumn Tuesday

November 17, 2009 :: Category - Designs, Personal/Updates, Sketches/Drawings

I roamed around the west today and came across a row of cute houses on Palmerston & Wolsley St. They kind of look like sail boats, parked beside each other.

My friends and I passed a bicycle store on Spadina that were selling vintage cameras yesterday… so I decided to drop by again today and bought two polaroid cameras for my collection :)

And ended the evening at Trinity Bellwoods Park after using up my last polaroid from my 10 pack:

I’m determined to roam around the park during sunset.. but that requires getting up before 7:00am! I have 1 more pack of polaroids left: they’ll be used up around the city. Trees & houses? And anything simple in between ~

Oh and something quick I did before bed last night:

New Sound

Rain - download

I wrote another short song today: It’s more of an exploration of ambient & ambiguous sounds fused in with simple keys. The song is like a walk on a rainy day? (or my interpretation of it anyways!).

3:07 am - Another One - download

It’s 3:07am and I just finished composing a song that I started tonight :) . Oddly it started out sounding mellow (in the minor scale) and transitioned into an uplifting tone for the ending. Strange: it seems to be the same pattern with most of my songs. Hmmmm…

Gouache + Graphite

I played around with adding a layer of gouache over my graphite drawing and it worked out pretty well! Time to explore a bit more of this medium and perhaps find the love for gouache again

My room mate made this mysterious lime juice?

Why is this dollar store broom on display? I only noticed it yesterday!

Nice Weather - Saturday

I really don’t know what’s going on with Toronto’s weather, but we’ve been having pretty “warm” days for the past week. What does that mean? Going outside more often with no fear!

Collage Poster

November 12, 2009 :: Category - Designs

This week’s illustration 1 assignment was to create a poster design for La Machine. I went to an antique store in Parkdale ( 1605 Queen Street West ) and took photographs for the collage.

This has got to be one of the coolest antique stores in parkdale: filled with neat industrial-looking items, vintage furniture, posters and goodness.

I printed the photographs on watercolor paper (for the texture), and taped it all together. The black background is text (a good suggestion from a buddy), and then the type was printed and cut out from white paper.

The other photographs I used: photos from my New York trip.. and my arm.

The best way to start the day - making yet another infographic poster!

After hearing about my friend’s obsession over True Love Cafe (on Dundas and Sherborne) we finally checked it out. This is how their fries look like - funky
