And something random/old:

Polaroid #3

Author: Myra  //  Category: Polaroid Projects

Here’s polaroid #3: my girlfriend’s tattoos.

I tried taking a closer zoom of the swallow tattoo but the flash kept washing it out…On another note: I tried roaming around Queen West (past Bathurst) > to King West today and found nothing to take a picture of! Maybe I’ll have better luck tomorrow or another day.

Polaroids ready to go!

My polaroid projects are ready to go!

- A Polaroid 600 camera that my girlfriend got me!
- 60 Polaroid film sheets came in the mail today

I’m going to start the first shot soon.

Also: I might even leave the unopened polaroid films in the fridge so it lasts a bit longer (DO NOT freeze it if you have polaroid film sheets, it could go bad..).

Little Sister Polaroids

My sister as a child, back in the 90’s. The only Polaroids we have laying around my parent’s house.

Polaroid Film Project #2: Memories of Winnipeg

Author: Myra  //  Category: Polaroid Projects

I randomly came up with another Polariod film project! My idea is to create a set of Polaroids that will capture memories from childhood (and my teenage years) from Winnipeg.

What I plan on doing is taking pictures of areas in the city where I have a memory/story to tell (which will then be written onto the Polaroid as a caption). For longer stories, I’ll figure out a way to place all of the text on the film sheet.

The subjects are going to be VERY simple… it will look meaningless, but the caption will explain the meaning of the photo.

Here’s a list of Polaroids I want to capture:

- The sidewalk block where I biked over the neighbor’s grandmother
- My old house I grew up in
- My old backyard
- Under the Maryland bridge
- On the Maryland bridge
- The walk home from highschool (Kingsway)
- Assiniboine Park’s Money trails (Devil’s Dip)
- Assiniboine Park: main field (Teddy Bear’s picnic & Kite Festival location)
- JMK’s foursquare
- Portage Avenue
- Kelvin High School: Bench/Field
- Kelvin High School: The White Shack
- Kelvin High School: Inside - > lockers
- etc, etc, etc

(I need to modify the list to add in more specific stories)

Set #1 will consist of 20 Polaroids.

Polaroid Films & My Idea

Author: Myra  //  Category: Polaroid Projects

I love Polaroids because they truly capture “the moment” as it happens, it’s raw, candid and pure (no photoshopping or retaking shots!).

Thanks to my procrastination of buying Polaroid films, I spent around $90 today on 60 Polaroid 600 camera film sheets (which I’ve purchased off Ebay). The price has been increasing quite a bit since Polaroid has announced that they will stop the production of their instant camera & films! What sucks even more is the fact that these films do expire (the ones I got expire on: 2/09) which means I can’t use these films for products in the future (2020 to be specific).

Anyways, here is my idea:
- I am going to purchase more Polaroid films (Ideally 100+)
- Starting from the moment I get my first tattoo next month, I am going to capture many moments of my new “chapter” of life (AKA: First year @ OCAD) via Polaroid films.
-> Final step: I need to figure out how to compile all of these Polaroid films for my project somehow, I have a year to plan this out anyways

Until then, I need to gather as many Polaroid 600 films that I can afford for this project :)
